Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
