Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

• 15 counts of assault.
• 17 counts of assault by penetration.
• 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
• One count of attempted penetrative assault.
