Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Advisers Participate in Parliamentary Inquiry After Claims of Bias in Unauthorized Memo
We start with inquiries from Conservative MP the panel's head, who chairs the committee.
She initiates by providing context to the disclosed document written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I do not desire the BBC slanting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it straight, impartial and just," he states.
When asked whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, the adviser replies: "Absolutely not. It is important to note, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is exceptional - encompassing informative and fictional programming."
Nevertheless, he states: "There exists real work that requires attention at the BBC."
The second former external BBC adviser questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it operates a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" on fluid and multifaceted subjects.
"Was the BBC willing to conduct a thorough conversation and argument and take action?" she asks herself. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
